The Fairholme Review is written from Banff and from the habit of looking up. The name is the range you see from Sulphur when the weather is honest: Fairholme, a wall of rock that does not care about a ticket office. We keep a desk, not a booth.

What we publish

Visitor essays. Field notes. The kind of copy that tells you how a place feels before it tells you how to consume it. We describe the gondola because it is the machine that changed who can stand on Sanson’s Peak. We do not describe a price, a sale, or a booking form. Those belong to the operator.

What we are not

We are not Banff Gondola. We are not Pursuit. We are not Banff Jasper Collection. We do not take a commission and we cannot open a cabin. If a sentence here disagrees with their board, their board wins. Mountains do not honour magazines.
